How to Organise a Hen’s Party on the Gold Coast
A great hen’s party should feel like the bride.
Not like a checklist copied from somebody else’s weekend. Not like a race between bookings. And certainly not like the organiser needs a recovery holiday afterwards.
The best celebrations give the group something genuine to do together. There is time to settle in, learn something new, pour a drink, share good food and enjoy the reason everyone travelled in the first place.
For a bride who loves food, hosting a private pizza masterclass at your Gold Coast or Kingscliff accommodation brings all of that into one experience.
You choose the house. Invite the friends. Set the table. We bring the masterclass to you.
Start with the bride, not the itinerary
Before opening fifteen browser tabs, ask one useful question:
What would the bride genuinely enjoy?
Some brides want a full weekend of activities. Others would rather spend one memorable evening in a beautiful home with their closest friends.
For a food loving bride, a hands on cooking experience can be the centrepiece of the celebration. Everyone takes part, nobody is left watching from the side, and the activity naturally becomes dinner.
Guests learn how great pizza is made from scratch, work with the dough, shape their bases, choose their toppings, cook with real heat and sit down to enjoy what they have made.
It feels relaxed, but there is still plenty happening. Flour moves across the table. Dough begins to stretch. Toppings are passed around. The oven comes to life. Each pizza takes on its own personality.
By the time everyone sits down to eat, the group has created the meal together.
Choose accommodation that can host the experience
A spacious Airbnb can become the perfect base for a hen’s weekend.
It keeps everyone in one place and gives the group room to move at its own pace. There is no need to arrange transport between dinner and the evening activity. Nobody needs to rush through a restaurant booking. The bride can change the music, open another bottle and enjoy the night in a space that already feels personal.
When looking for accommodation, consider the following:
A comfortable kitchen or preparation area
There should be enough room for ingredients, equipment and final preparation. The kitchen does not need to be commercial, but a clean and practical workspace helps the evening run smoothly.
A large table or central gathering space
The table becomes part classroom, part preparation bench and part shared dining space. Look for a home where the group can comfortably gather around without feeling crowded.
A suitable outdoor area
A patio, deck or protected entertaining area can work beautifully for the oven and cooking portion of the masterclass. Check the property layout and confirm what is permitted with the host before booking.
Enough seating for the full group
Once the pizzas are cooked, everyone should be able to sit, eat and enjoy the meal together.
A wet weather option
Queensland weather can change quickly. A covered outdoor area or flexible entertaining space gives the group a practical backup plan.
Clear access to the property
Think about parking, stairs, gates and the route between the preparation table and cooking area. Easy access helps equipment move in and out without disrupting the celebration.
Before confirming the accommodation, let the host know you are planning a private cooking masterclass. It is always better to check the property rules first.
Choose the location before locking in the activity
The Gold Coast gives hen’s groups plenty of accommodation choices, from beachside apartments to larger homes designed for group stays.
Kingscliff can also work beautifully for groups who want a relaxed coastal base. It gives everyone space to settle in while keeping the weekend focused on time together.
For Hailey’s hen’s celebration, the group travelled from Mackay and stayed in a wonderful Kingscliff Airbnb. The home gave them enough room to gather around the table, learn together and host the masterclass for a bride who genuinely loves food.
That choice of accommodation shaped the whole night.
Instead of moving between venues, the experience came directly to them.
Contact Marino & The Dough early
Once you have a date, approximate group size and possible location, get in touch.
You do not need every detail finalised before making an enquiry. Sharing the basics is enough to begin the conversation:
Your preferred date
The accommodation suburb
The expected number of guests
Any dietary requirements
Whether the booking is part of a larger weekend itinerary
Anything personal you would like included for the bride
From there, the masterclass can be planned around the space and the group.
Luke Marino brings the experience to your accommodation and guides the class with clear, relaxed instruction. The focus is on helping everyone understand the process, not simply placing finished pizzas on the table.
Guests learn by doing.

What happens during the masterclass?
The class begins around the table, where the group learns about dough, fermentation, texture and technique.
Luke guides the process step by step, helping guests understand how dough should feel and why each stage matters. The group learns how to handle it gently, create shape without pressing out all the air and build a balanced pizza that will cook properly.
Then the ingredients come into play.
This is where individual tastes begin to show. One guest keeps things classic. Another adds a generous combination of toppings. Someone becomes deeply invested in basil placement. Someone else discovers that shaping dough is far more satisfying than expected.
The pizzas then move towards the oven.
Real heat changes everything. The base begins to cook. The crust lifts and puffs. Small blisters form along the cornicione. Cheese softens. Tomato becomes sweeter and richer. Luke shows guests how to watch the pizza, turn it and recognise when the base and crust are ready.
The group works with 72 hour fermented dough, giving each pizza the texture, flavour and airy structure that proper fermentation creates.
Then comes the best part.
Everyone shares what they made.
Keep the rest of the itinerary simple
One of the easiest mistakes when organising a hen’s party is trying to fill every available hour.
A full weekend does not need to mean a full schedule.
Give the group time to arrive, unpack and settle into the house. Leave space for coffee the next morning. Allow people to talk without checking the time every twenty minutes.
A simple hen’s party schedule might look like this:
2.00 pm: Guests arrive, unpack and settle into the accommodation
3.00 pm: Drinks, music and time with the bride while everyone gets comfortable
4.00 pm: Pizza masterclass begins
4.00 to 6.30 pm: Shape, top, cook and share pizzas together
After 6.30 pm: Dessert, speeches, games or a relaxed evening at the house
The masterclass has its own natural rhythm. Rather than cooking every pizza and sitting down for dinner afterwards, the pizzas come out of the oven one at a time. As each one is cooked, the group shares it together while the next pizza is prepared and moved towards the heat.
It keeps everyone involved throughout the class. There is always something happening around the table or oven, with each finished pizza becoming part of the experience as it comes out hot, blistered and ready to share.
Add personal touches for the bride
The most memorable details are often simple.
Choose a playlist that means something to the group. Print a menu with pizza names inspired by the bride. Ask each guest to write a short note for her to read later. Set the table in colours that match the weekend. Prepare a favourite Prepare a favourite dessert for after the class, or organise a dessert pizza with Luke to finish the masterclass on something sweet.
You could also create a friendly topping challenge.
Ask each pair to make a pizza inspired by a memory with the bride. One might reflect a holiday. Another could use her favourite ingredients. A third might be named after an old story the group still talks about.
If you would like to plan a particular topping game, use special pizza names or include something personal for the bride, let Luke know in advance. Toppings are selected a few days before the masterclass so everything can be prepared properly, and Luke is happy to work those details into the experience where possible.
Keep the competition relaxed. The point is not to produce the most technically perfect pizza. It is to give everyone another reason to create, taste and connect.
What should guests wear?
Comfort matters.
Guests will be standing, working with flour and moving between the table and oven area. Choose clothing that feels suitable for a practical cooking experience.
Aprons help protect outfits, but this is still a hands on class. It may be better to save delicate fabrics, long sleeves and elaborate accessories for another part of the weekend.
Closed shoes are also a sensible choice around the cooking area.
The group can still match the occasion through colour, accessories or coordinated aprons without making it difficult to participate.
A recent hen’s party that brought everyone together
Hailey’s group travelled from Mackay to celebrate on the coast, staying together in a Kingscliff Airbnb.
The bride was a foodie, so the group wanted something that felt thoughtful, interactive and genuinely suited to her. Rather than booking another standard dinner, they brought the experience into the home.
The table was prepared with bowls of flour, water, tools and everything needed for the lesson. The group learned together before moving towards the heat of the oven. Guests shaped their pizzas, added their toppings and watched each crust rise and colour.
By the end of the evening, everyone had taken part in making the meal.
There were finished pizzas, group photos, oven skills, plenty of proud moments and a bride surrounded by the people who had travelled to celebrate her.
What the group said
“We had Luke (Luciano) come to our house for a private pizza-making class, and it was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve had! Luke was an incredible host! We laughed the whole time, learned so much, and made the most delicious pizzas.
The food was amazing, the atmosphere was so much fun, and we genuinely didn’t want it to end. Thanks for making the 1–2 Crew feel so welcome and giving us such an unforgettable experience. We can’t recommend Marino and Dough highly enough!”
Sophie Miranda, five star Google review
What stands out in Sophie’s review is not only the food.
The group learned. They felt welcome. They enjoyed the atmosphere. They shared an experience they did not want to finish.
That is what a well planned hen’s party should create.
Your hen’s party planning checklist
Before the weekend, confirm these details:
The bride will enjoy a hands on food experience
The group size is confirmed or close to final
The accommodation permits a private cooking class
There is enough table space for the group
There is a suitable area for the oven
The host knows about any access or parking requirements
Dietary requirements have been shared in advance
The masterclass time fits comfortably into the itinerary
Guests know to wear practical clothing and shoes
Someone is ready to take photos while everyone is cooking
Once those details are in place, the rest can stay beautifully simple.
Plan a hen’s party built around real connection
A hen’s party does not need constant movement to feel special.
Sometimes the strongest celebration begins with a table, a group of friends and something worth learning together.
Book a beautiful place to stay. Bring the bride’s favourite people into one room. Let the flour move, the oven heat up and the pizzas come to life.
Marino & The Dough brings the private masterclass to your Gold Coast or surrounding accommodation, with expert guidance, premium ingredients and 72 hour fermented dough ready for the group to shape, top, cook and share.
